Fidelity Trading Flap Widens; SG Cowen Equity Head Gone

Another trader who has been tied to the Fidelity trading flap has left his job. The Boston Herald reported Tuesday that SG Cowen trader Meriwether Lewis left his job as co-head of the firm's equity division to "pursue other projects."

Lewis was one of those reported to have attended a bachelor party in the summer of 2003 that is at being investigated by the SEC. The Commission is looking into whether brokerage firms paid for the party celebrating the wedding of Tom Bruderman, a Fidelity trader, in order to land order flow from the fund firm.

While the party kicked off in Massachusetts, guests allegedly took a private jet to South Beach and spent the weekend on a private yacht.

Bruderman then married Sandra Kozlowski, the daughter of former Tyco CEO L. Dennis Kozlowski in a wedding on Nantucket.

The Herald also points out that Lewis went by the nickname "Sambo" despite his being white and the name being a derogatory term for blacks.
