Friday, April 29, 2005 Bay Area Fund Firm Works It Socially responsible fund firm Parnassus Investments is launching a new fund with a different take on what it means to be responsible. The San Francisco, California-based firm's new Parnassus Workplace Fund invests in companies that provide good working environments for their employees. The firm will consider factors such as equitable pay, benefits, training and educational opportunities, diversity, voluntarism and other factors. “The concept behind our new fund is simple: Companies which treat their employees well can be expected to provide superior products and services to their customers. They should, therefore, outperform competitors over time," stated Jerome L. Dodson, president and founder of Parnassus. With the launch of the Workplace Fund and two others -- the Parnassus Mid-Cap Fund and the Parnassus Small-Cap Fund -- the firm will offer a total of seven mutual funds. The firm manages approximately $1.3 billion in assets. Printed from: MFWire.com/story.asp?s=9589 Copyright 2005, InvestmentWires, Inc. All Rights Reserved |
