Guardian Park Ave Manager Calls it Quits

Richard Goldman, portfolio manager for the Guardian Park Avenue Fund, has resigned. He left the fund on March 15, according to the company. Chief Investment Officer Tom Sorell and Matthew Ziehl will take over for Goldman on an interim basis.

Goldman was also the manager for the Guardian Stock Fund that is offered through the insurer's variable annuity line.

The money management firm did not explain why Goldman resigned. Guardian engaged a "prominent" executive search firm to find a repacement for him.

"Rich is a talented and outstanding individual who has made significant contributions to the Guardian mutual fund complex during his tenure and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors," said Dennis Manning, president and CEO of Guardian in a statement.

Ziehl is also the portfolio manager for The Guardian Park Avenue Small Cap Fund.
