ALPS Chooses New Fund Software

ALPS Mutual Funds Services, a Denver, Colorado-based fund services provider, has chosen Global Investment Systems' (GIS) fund administration and accounting software for its services.

ALPS provides fund administration, distribution, accounting, marketing, shareholder services and transfer agent services to fund companies; clients include the BLDRS, Bridgeway, Wasatch and Westcore funds.

Prior to using GIS, the vendor used State Street-subsidiary Princeton Financial System's PAM software, said Sean McLean, director of fund accounting for ALPS.

"We've been on PAM for nine years now, and we've just grown a lot over the last few years…we wanted a system that had a little more functionality," said McLean, adding that GIS' MFACT software is "very focused" on serving mutual funds, whereas PAM is targeted towards insurance companies.
