JP Morgan Buys out Joint Venture

Two units of J.P. Morgan have bought the business of Cincinnati, Ohio-based high yield asset manager and current Morgan joint venture partner Pacholder Associates, the companies announced on Tuesday.

Banc One Investment Advisors will take over Pacholder's partial ownership in Banc One High Yield Partners and Pacholder & Company, while JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management will integrate Pacholder's investment and fund administration business.

The entire 13-person Pacholder investment team, including head William Morgan, will continue to work out of its Cincinnati office.

Pacholder currently manages more than $2.5 billion in assets.

Prior to the acquisition, BOIA and Pacholder jointly owned Banc One High Yield Partners, a high yield manager.

"This acquisition completes the process of integrating Pacholder's robust high yield capabilities into our extensive fixed income investment advisory offerings," said Gary Madich, chief investment officer of JPMorgan Fleming Asset Management's fixed income team in Columbus, Ohio.
