Gartmore Launches Small Cap Leaders Fund

Gartmore is adding to is Leaders family with a new fund that combines the best stock picks of its growth and value equity research teams. The Gartmore Small Cap Leaders Fund will invest in a limited number of stocks in two "sleeves." Each sleeve is the responsibility of one of the two portfolio management teams that will select 20 to 30 small- to mid-cap stocks for the fund.

The Conshohocken, Pennsylvania-based fund unit of Nationwide Financial is offering the fund in A, B, C, R, Institutional, and Institutional Services share classes. The fund will be distributed through 350 supermarkets and broker-dealers.

Each of Gartmore Funds' "Leadership Series" uses concentrated portfolios of 25 to 70 securities. The new fund will use the Russell 2000 as its benchmark index.

The small cap growth team is led by Senior Portfolio Manager Carl Wilk. Senior Portfolio Manager Gary Haubold, with team members William Gerlach and Charles Purcell, will manage the small cap value sleeve of the portfolio.
