Tuesday, August 10, 2004 Pax Gives Phishing Tips Pax World Funds has issued six tips for investors on spotting fake websites. In June, the fund firm discovered that imposters were running a fake Pax site called fairpax.com. The SEC obtained a temporary restraining order from a United States District Judge for the District of New Hampshire to stop the site from conducting business in late June. The tips include warning investors about seemingly urgent or "even upsetting" emails asking for important account numbers or personal information, sending critical information on secure pages only, "cloned" websites or strange website addresses, reviewing account statements for suspicious activity, keeping browser software updated, and reporting problems to fund companies.
