Fund Attorneys Join US Bancorp

US Bancorp Asset Management has hired away two lawyers from two law firms to fill its general counsel and chief compliance officer vacancies.

Charles Manzoni, formerly of Chicago law firm Gardner, Carton & Douglas, joined US Bancorp Asset Management as general counsel. Gardner, Carton & Douglas was US Bancorp's independent counsel for mutual funds.

Doug Paul of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart's San Francisco-based investment management practice was named chief compliance officer.

Manzoni previously worked at Zurich Kemper Investments as general counsel and Paul as director of compliance and associate general counsel at American Century Investments.

Steve Lentz, former general counsel, left US Bancorp last November. Former chief compliance officer Scott Plummer left the firm in May.

US Bancorp manages $122 billion in assets, $56 billion for the First American family of mutual funds.
