AIMR Swaps Name

Members of AIMR voted for Jeffrey Diermeier as the organization's new president and chief executive officer in May.

Diermeier's term will begin in January 2005, after Thomas Bowman, current head of the trade group, retires.

The 70,000-member organization also voted to change their name to the CFA Institute.

"As our public awareness efforts advanced, it became clear that having two brands — AIMR and CFA — diluted our message," Bowman stated. "People want to know that a professional credential is backed up by a reputable organization, but the minute we introduced ‘AIMR’ into our messaging, it created unnecessary confusion," stated Bowman.
