ICI GMM: Eyes on the Prizes

Last week's ICI conference attendees were promised the chance of winning a variety of prizes, from utilitarian handhelds, ubiquitous iPods, an entertainment center, and even a Mercedes Benz C230 Kompressor.

With the ICI conference ended over one week ago, the MFWire wonders who walked away with the goodies. While we found out that no one won the Benz, a choice magnum of 1990 cabernet sauvignon from Opus One went to Ken Anderson, president and chief executive officer of ABN Amro Funds.

A price check on the wine ranged from $700 from a Los Angeles wine merchant to $1,000 elsewhere. The Opus One winery, a part of the larger Robert Mondavi group, describes the vintage as follows: "[s]lightly cooler-than-normal winter weather led to a late bud break. Bloom and berry set were affected by cool temperatures and rain in late May, resulting in a reduced crop. Normal summer temperatures were followed by ideal harvest conditions. Wines are rich and resilient."

Meanwhile, the Government of Victoria, Australia's Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development continued the wine theme by sending attendees an email on Tuesday promising the first five respondents a bottle of Victorian wine. The catch? Respondents must answer five Victoria-related questions correctly.

Readers are encouraged to report prize winners to IWires' staff.
