Wednesday, May 19, 2004 DTCC Centralizes Securities Data Security and reference data on over two million securities is now accessible over the Internet via SMART/Source, a new online service from the Depository Trust & Clearing Company. The data are accessible through SMART (DTCC’s Securely Managed And Reliable Technology). Information, including current, historical and future announcements on reorganizations, redemptions and dividend payments, is available on all securities eligible for processing by DTCC’s depository subsidiary, The Depository Trust Company. "Currently, firms have to draw this information from multiple sources," said Daniel Thieke, product manager, DTCC Network Services. SMART/Source was in pilot for six months and will now be available to all users. DTCC is already planning upgrades, including customized watch lists of securities and FTP access for downloading data.
