Former Strong Team Needs a Hand

Managing $20 million in assets to $3 billion in assets is quite a jump for former Strong managers Christopher H. Wiles and Lawrence E. Eakin, Jr., even with the aid of Strong-alum and analyst Michael J. Halloran and three support staff. The six-person team defected to National City Investment Management on Monday.

The team, based out of a National City Bank's Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office, is looking for one analyst to work under Wiles and Eakin, said Anne Rapacz-Kimmins, a National City spokeswoman.

The managers are looking for someone on the same level as Halloran and have likely not begun the search yet, said Rapacz-Kimmins.

Halloran was an analyst for Strong's Large Company Core Fund and Large Company Growth Fund. He also has five years of investment experience, covering the consumer discretionary, staples, energy and utilities sectors.

Wiles is the senior director for large cap growth, large cap core, and diversified growth, and Eakin the portfolio manager and senior director. Wiles and Eakin had co-managed the Strong Large Company Growth Fund and the Strong Advisor Large Company Core Fund since 1997.
