Socially Responsible Investment Firm Expands

Citizens Fund, the Portsmouth, New Hampshire socially responsible investment management firm, continued the expansion of its investment research team with three new analyst hires.

Charlie Page, CFA will provide fundamental analysis for the Citizens small cap value strategy. He was previously employed at an independent research firm and also worked as a consultant creating business plans for the National Parks Service.

Jay Datta, who also comes from independent research analysis, will provide fundamental technology sector analysis across all Citizens strategies. In the past he has focused on the semiconductor industry. He has also worked at I-banking firm Hoefer & Arnett, at LSI Logic and at General Motors.

Suresh Sethi will attend to the socially responsible part of the equation, researching and evaluating companies’ corporate, social and environmental performance. He comes from a research position at the College of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota. Sethi has covered renewable energy technologies and biodiversity valuation.

Two of the three hires fill new positions, according to a company spokesperson. The spokesperson also said that Citizens has been adding to their research team over the past few years.

"We’re one of the few socially responsible mutual fund complexes that manage their own funds in-house," the spokesperson said. "Most of our competitors subadvise." Citizen manages ten funds in-house. The only fund not managed in-house is their global equity fund. They have approximately $1 billion in assets under management.
