Fido Offers Air Miles

Fidelity Investments is helping fund shareholders fly the friendly skies. The Boston Behemoth has partnered with United Airlines to offer frequent flyer miles as a reward to new account holders.

"This alliance provides Mileage Plus members with a unique opportunity to earn miles by investing in everything from Fidelity mutual funds, to equities, fixed income products and more," explained Claire Huang, executive vice president of marketing at Fidelity Investments.

United will promote the alliance through its Mileage Plus program, on board United flights and through online channels. More than 44 million people take part in Mileage Plus, according to the airline. It has also created a special Web page detailing the alliance at www.united.com/fidelity .

By opening a new Fidelity account, Mileage Plus members can earn miles as follows:

  • 5,000 miles for a deposit of $ 2,500 - $ 9,999,
  • 15,000 miles for $ 10,000 - $ 49,999, and
  • 25,000 miles for deposits of $ 50,000 and over.
