Today, Phillip Titolo, head of direct private investments for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), and Rob Jakacki, CEO of Kudu Investment Management, LLC, confirm that Springfield, Massachusetts-based MassMutual has taken an equity stake in New York City-based Kudu. White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd. also remains a Kudu backer, as it has since 2018.

MassMutual's investment in Kudu comes after the firm closed a nine-figure credit facility with MassMutual. So far, Kudu, has raised more than $800 million in equity and debt capital.

Four-year-old Kudu has so far invested (as a minority shareholder) in 17 firms in the asset and wealth management industries. (Four of those investments have been made in the last 12 months, Jakacki confirms.) Those firms collectively managed about $65 billion in assets as of March 31.

"We're delighted to enhance our relationship with Kudu and to support its continued growth," Titolo states. "We look forward to working with Kudu's portfolio companies."
