Thursday, April 21, 2022 Baird and Primecap Win Big The folks at Baird and Primecap may be breaking out the champagne this week, thanks to some good news from the Midwest. Yesterday, Sarah Bush, director of manager research for North America at Morningstar, Inc., revealed that the winners of the 2022 Morningstar Awards for Investing Excellence are Baird's Mary Ellen Stanek and Primecap. Stanek has been nominated all three years that the M* team has done these newer awards, while this was Primecap's second nomination (though neither Primecap nor Stanek previously won). Stanek won this year's "outstanding portfolio manager" award (for individuals), while Primecap won the "exemplary stewardship" award (for firms). These are M*'s fourth annual Awards for Investing Excellence, after the M* team rebooted their Fund Manager of the Year Awards back in 2019. Stanek, co-CIO of Baird Asset Management, has spent more than 22 years with the company. She now leads the firm's taxable fixed income strategies, and she is president of Baird Funds.
