On Monday, the teams at Great Place to Work and Fortune unveiled their 2022 list of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For. The Great Place to Work team has been gathering the data for 25 years, and this year's list is based on a survey of more than 870,000 employees. According to the Great Place to Work team, companies on their list outperform the stock market and have a better time with recruiting and retention.

In the mutual fund industry, Nationwide tops this year's list, ranking 21st. That's up from 25 in 2021, 91st in 2020, 57th in 2019, 53rd in 2018, 54th in 2017, and 71st in 2016.

Next up is Baird, which ranks 27th this year. That's up from 32nd in 2021, down from 13th in 2020, 16 in 2019, 12th in 2018, 4th in 2017, and 6th in 2016.

Edward Jones ranks 35th this year. That's down from 20th in 2021, 7th in 2020 and 2019, 5th in 2018 and 2017, and 10th in 2016.

"Best Companies' leadership has never been more necessary," states Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. "As workers struggle with the Great Resignation, burnout and COVID disruptions, these exceptional companies offer workplace experiences as strong as prior to the pandemic."

Three companies in the 401(k) recordkeeping business also made this year's list. Our sister publication, 401kWire, has more details.
