A Product Strat SVP Joins a $102B-AUM Firm

The former product chief for the U.S. arm of a multinational asset manager has moved on to another Big Apple role, this time with a $102-billion-AUM (as of January 31), publicly traded asset manager that focuses on real estate and other real assets.

Khushbu Gupta left Allianz Global Investors late last year and joined New York City-based Cohen and Steers as senior vice president of product strategy, MFWire has learned. She was with AllianzGI for almost eleven years, serving as a director of strategy and corporate development, and most recently as director and head of product in the U.S. (AllianzGI's U.S. headquarters is also in NYC.)

A spokesperson for Cohen and Steers tells MFWire, "Khushbu joined Cohen and Steers late last year. It is a new position."

Gupta left AllianzGI in early November, according to Robin Pertusi, a spokesperson for the asset manager.

"She reported to Silvana Pacitti," Pertusi notes, "who remains head of products (globally) at AllianzGI. Silvana continues to manage [an approximately decade-long] tenured team of senior product managers in the U.S."

Pacitti did not respond to an email for comment.

As for Gupta's new role, the Cohen and Steers spokesperson adds, "Khushbu is focused on working with Greg Bottjer, executive vice president and head of global product strategy and development, in defining and executing the product strategy for our firm's next phase of growth."

Prior to joining both Cohen and Steers and AllianzGI, Gupta served as a vice president of strategy and business development at Jaypee International Inc. from 2009 to 2011. Before that, she was a consultant with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. In the early 2000s, she was a manager in strategy and business development at Network18, a CNBC business news channel based in Mumbai, India, as well as an information analyst in New Delhi for McKinsey and Company. Gupta is an alumna of the Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies and the Indian School of Business.
