Embattled fund companies may have found a friend in Putnam Lovell NBF Securities Inc. and NewRiver Inc. The two firms have have teamed up to provide advice to mutual fund companies.

Darlene DeRemer, will lead the alliance from the Boston office of Putnam Lovell NBF. Under DeRemer, Putnam Lovell NBF and NewRiver teams will assist clients to set strategies, refine their strategic business portfolios, increase profits, improve marketing, product design and distribution, and restructure operations through reorganization and outsourcing.

The alliance was put together by John Griff, president of Putnam Lovell NBF US Businesses, in response to the escalating crisis in the mutual fund industry.
