Novick Will Help Guide a $650B-AUM AM's Parent

One of BlackRock's eight co-founders is now helping to guide the parent of an asset manager with more than $650 billion in AUM (as of March 31).

Independent Director
Last week, Ted Mathas, chairman and CEO of New York Life, confirmed the fresh addition of Barbara Novick to the board of directors of the mutually owned insurance company. (New York Life has an asset management arm, New York Life Investments, with a mutual fund business, MainStay.)

Mathas lauds Novick for having an "impressive and extensive understanding of the financial markets, public policy, and investment strategies and practices."

Novick retired from BlackRock earlier this year. There, she served as vice chairman and worked in a variety of leadership roles over the years. She is an alumna of Cornell.
