After a Retirement, a 17-Year Victory Leader Rises


A key distribution executive recently passed the reins at a publicly traded multiboutique asset manager.

Denver-based Kevin Schmeits retired from San Antonio-based Victory Capital Management [profile], effective July 31, MFWire has learned. He served as head of sales and distribution for the retail and retirement channels at Victory.

Cleveland-based John McCauley, retail national sales manager at Victory, succeeded Schmeits as head of sales and distribution for retail and retirement. Peter Tufts, Jr. remains head of national accounts for the retail intermediary businesses. And Scott Neeb remains head of national accounts for retirement.

David Brown, chairman and chief executive officer at Victory Capital Management, stated: "Mr. Schmeits made a tremendous leadership contribution to our distribution efforts and served our clients well during the 17 years he was with Victory Capital. We wish him the very best in his retirement."

Schmeits joined Victory in 2003. He graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with two Bachelors, one in information science and the other in finance.

McCauley also started at Victory in 2003, as senior regional sales director. Prior to joining that, he spent two years at Bisys as an internal sales director. McCauley was also an FA at Morgan Stanley for four years. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Mercyhurst University.
