COVID-19 Pushes Back Two More Conferences

Two more mutual fund industry conferences have been postponed thanks to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

ICI

For the first time in its history, the team at the Investment Company Institute (ICI) has postponed their annual General Membership Meeting (ICI GMM), spokeswoman Olivia Caverly confirms. The 2020 conference, which will be the trade group's 62nd GMM, was scheduled for May 6-8 in Washington, D.C. and was officially still on as of two weeks ago. No new dates have yet been revealed.

"The health and safety of our industry community — ICI's members, staff, guests, conference speakers and attendees, service providers, and all our families — is our highest priority at this time," the ICI posted on the event's website. "Under the circumstances, the need to delay the 2020 GMM until the pandemic has passed is crystal clear."

The ICI has also cancelled a host of events that would normally be held alongside GMM. Those cancelled events include: the CCO Committee Meeting, the Compliance Advisory Committee Meeting, the ICI/EFAMA Meeting, the GMM Legal Forum, the IDC Fund Directors Workshop, the Mutual Fund Compliance Programs Conference, the Operations and Technology Conference, the Public Communications Committee Meeting, the Series Trust Advisory Committee Meeting, the Small Funds Committee Meeting, and the Transfer Agent Advisory Committee Meeting. Yet, the ICI team also hinted that they may do virtual versions for several of those cancelled events: the IDC Fund Directors Workshop, the Mutual Fund Compliance Programs Conference, and the Operations and Technology Conference.

ETFGI

The ETFGI team has postponed their New York ETFGI Global ETFs Insights Summit. The event was scheduled for April 2 in New York City and was officially still on as of two weeks ago. No new date has yet been revealed.

"Since our guest health and safety is the utmost priority for ETFGI, we have taken the decision to postpone ETFGI Global ETFs Insights Summit New York," the ETFGI team posted. "We are working with the venue to find a new date and we will update this site as soon as that is confirmed."
