After a Five-Year Cancer Fight, a Jersey Fundster Dies

A 55-year-old fundster died over the weekend after a five-year fight against cancer.

Bob Glenn passed on Sunday in Avon-By-The-Sea, New Jersey, the Jersey Journal confirms. He served as associate director and mutual fund product specialist at UBS Wealth Management and lived in Bayonne, New Jersey.

A UBS spokesman declined to comment.

Robert J. Glenn, known as "Brother Rob", spent 32 years at UBS. He was born in Jersey City. A football player in his youth, he was a linebacker at Marist High School and at Missouri-Western University. Outside of work, Glenn was an avid cyclist and triathlon competitor.

Traci Simpson, executive director and head of mutual funds at UBS, worked alongside Glenn for a decade at the wirehouse's headquarters in Weehawken, New Jersey.

"Sometimes, especially early on before our team grew, it felt like Bob and me against the world. We would battle it out at times, but we always, always knew we had the other's back when it came down to it," Simpson writes. "I will miss him tremendously, and there's a hole in my heart that can never be replaced, because Bob himself can never be replaced."

Simpson recalls that Glenn often said, "We're not here for a long time. We're here for a good time."

Glenn is survived by his mother, three siblings, and a host of nieces and nephews. A viewing is being held today from 3pm to 8pm at the G. Keenen O'Brien Funeral Home in Bayonne, New Jersey. A burial mass is scheduled for 11am tomorrow at Blessed Miriam Teresa Demjanovich Parish at Saint Andrew the Apostle Church, also in Bayonne.

In lieu of flowers, the family is directing donations to Columbia University Medical Center's Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.
