A Midwestern Shop's Sales Chief Adds a New Piece to Her Team

A midwestern fund firm's sales chief is adding a new piece to her team, and she's hiring and promoting accordingly.

Kelly Lauren Kraft
Weitz Investment Management
Vice President, Head of Sales
Omaha, Nebraska-based Weitz Investment Management's Kelly Kraft revealed the promotion of Yana Morgan and the hiring of new Weitz employee Justin O'Shea. Both report directly to Kraft in a newly created role at Weitz; client portfolio manager. And Kraft is still hiring.

"We are currently searching for a hybrid wholesale/relationship manager to fill the open position created when Yana was promoted," Gina Ladd, marketing manager at Weitz, tells MFWire.

Yana Sharon Morgan
Weitz Investment Management
Director, Client Portfolio Manager
Kraft, who serves as vice president and head of sales at Weitz, states that, "the addition of the client portfolio manager function is an effort to provide data and analytics support to our investment team, and to expand on the resources available from our firm for advisors, consultants, and institutions."

Morgan, who has served at Weitz for over 18 years, was promoted to director, client portfolio manager in September from her previous position as regional director. Morgan first joined Weitz as a client services representative, and worked at the Omaha Community Foundation as director of donor services prior to that position. She holds a bachelor's in psychology from the University of Southern Connecticut.

O'Shea was newly hired in September as a client PM. He previously served as a director of retirement plan services at First National Wealth Management, and as vice president of trading at First National Capital Markets. He graduated with a bachelor's in finance and economics and an MBA from Marquette University.

"Yana and Justin will each act as an extension of our investment team, providing thought leadership, portfolio data and analytics, portfolio updates, educational content and market insights," Kraft states. "Our goal is to support the investment team and process, and to enhance the intellectual capital provided to our top clients to make the best investment decisions for their clients."

Ernie Gordon also joined Weitz earlier this year in May as director of strategic accounts, and was described by Kraft was "a tremendous addition to the Weitz team [due to] his vast industry expertise coupled with his relationship management skills and collaborative nature."
