Four Years In, a Top Distro Exec Leaves Columbia


A top distribution executive is moving on from Columbia Threadneedle [profile] after four years, and word is that he is not being replaced.

Joseph Dale Kringdon
Boston-based Joe Kringdon, formerly managing director and head of intermediary distribution in the U.S. at Columbia, left the Ameriprise subsidiary on October 31, company spokesman Carlos Melville confirms. Melville declined to comment further on the change.

Kringdon did not immediately respond to calls or an email for comment.

Kringdon reported to Scott Couto, who joined Columbia in February as head of North America. Couto oversees the whole U.S. intermediary business (including marketing and product, as well as distribution). His direct reports include: Dan Beckman, head of U.S. product; Jim Bumpus, national sales manager; Thom Jones, head of strategic relations; Leslie Walstrom, head of U.S. marketing; and Marc Zeitoun, head of strategic beta.

Kringdon, an alumnus of College of the Holy Cross, joined Columbia in 2014. Prior to that he worked at Pioneer and Putnam, after working in wealth management at Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch. Before that he worked in advertising.

Before returning to Columbia earlier this year, Couto worked at Fidelity and Evergreen. Prior to that he worked at Columbia for a dozen years. He is an alumnus of Babson College.
