An Ex-FA Takes Over Investment Solutions at Janney

A former financial advisor is taking over investment solutions at an east coast broker-dealer supporting more than 750 FAs.

Jessica Louise Landis
Janney Montgomery Scott
Vice President, Head of Investment Solutions
Jessica Landis has been promoted to vice president and head of investment solutions at Philadelphia-based Janney Montgomery Scott, wealth management chief Kevin Reed confirmed earlier this week. Landis now oversees retail equity trading (also option, preferred and fixed income trading) as well as marketing and support for insurance and investment products. (That includes the investment company products effort, led by Ryan Roffina, which manages Janney's strategic partner relationships and oversees sales and marketing of mutual funds and ETFs, as well as 529s, ABLE accounts, closed end funds, donor advised funds, and UITs.)

Landis spent the past two and a half years as assistant vice president and director of financial planning at Janney before taking over investment solutions. She succeeds senior vice president Bob Steinke, who shifted over in July to being Janney's regional manager for the mid-Atlantic region.

The Janney team "is very focused" on FA support "above and beyond investment advice," Landis tells MFWire.

"Jessica has a thorough understanding of our clients' needs today for not only a comprehensive financial plan, but education and guidance to the appropriate mix of investment products and solutions to support that plan," Reed states, pointing to Landis' old team's implementation of Janney's new financial planning platform.

Landis' main goal in her new role, she says, "is to promote Janney's ongoing initiative to support their advisors ability to provide holistic advice and solutions to their clients around conversations like education planning, risk management, etc."

"The goal is to provide a best-in-class advisor and client experience from planning to solution implementation," Landis says.

An alumna of West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Landis joined Janney in 2016. Prior to that she worked as an FA at Legacy Planning Partners.

Steinke, an alumnus of St. John's University, joined Janney in 2009. Prior to that he worked with Genworth, Smith Barney, and Legg Mason.
