Monday, October 15, 2018 Week In Preview, October 15-21 Today the Money Management Institute (MMI) team will kick off their 2018 MMI Annual Conference. The three-day event is being held at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas and is co-chaired by Keith Glenfield, managing director and head of investment products at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and Cheryl Nash, president of investment services at Fiserv. Featured speakers will include: author John O'Leary; Christian Mitchell, vice president of investment products and services and president and CEO of Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company; Joe Sullivan, chairman and CEO of Legg Mason; John Taft, vice chairman of Baird; and three members of the 2018 Olympic gold-winning U.S. women's hockey team — Hannah Brandt, Nicole Hensley, and Kendall Coyne Schofield. The opening reception tonight will be held at the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and tomorrow night the conference will host the 2018 MMI/Barron's Industry Awards Dinner. The two-day conference is being chaired by Debbie Fuhr, managing partner and co-founder of ETFGI. John Mauldin, chairman of Mauldin Economics, and Lex Sokolin, partner and global director of fintech strategy at Autonomous Research, are scheduled to appear as keynote speakers. On Wednesday, the team at High Water Women will host their Investing for Impact Symposium at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City. On Thursday evening, the Fixed Income Analysts Society, Inc. (FIASI) team will continue their monthly speaker series with an introduction to BlackRock's Aladdin platform. The event will be held at BlackRock's offices in New York City and will feature remarks from: Timothy Garbien, director and member of BlackRock Solutions' Aladdin business development team; Hai Shan, member of BlackRock's financial modeling group; and Chris Sturhan, director and member of BlackRock Solutions' analytics and quantitative solutions team. On Friday, the Financial Planning Association (FPA) team will their kick off their FPA Residency Program October 2018. The three-day, sold-out event will be held at the Hilton Denver Inverness in Englewood, Colorado. Kyra Morris of Morris Financial Concepts will be the dean of the event, which is geared toward new CFPs or soon-to-be CFPs. On Saturday afternoon the Merk and Morgan Creek teams will host an investment seminar in Morgan Creek's hometown of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Axel Merk, president and CIO of his eponymous firm, and Mark Yusko, CEO and CIO of Morgan Creek, will lead the discussion. Then on Sunday the Merk and Morgan Creek teams and their event guests will join in the Bull City Race Fest in Durham.
