Thursday, May 31, 2018 Plowing a New Active ETF Field, Take Six Terry Norman, founder of Blue Tractor Group, and his team have filed their sixth amended and restated application with the SEC for Blue Tractor's Shielded Alpha ETF structure. Blue Tractor's initial request was made in 2016 as reported by MFWire. "We are seeking to solve the challenge for best in class active managers who would like to offer funds in an ETF structure but are concerned that the required daily portfolio disclosure under current active ETF rules is detrimental to the execution of their strategy,” stated Norman. Like regular ETFs a Shielded Alpha ETF is meant to be transparent by disclosing full portfolio lists to the market daily. Where they differ is a Shielded Alpha ETF will not release specific portfolio weightings daily, in affect protecting a fund's alpha strategy. "We greatly appreciate the timely feedback from the staff at the SEC as we continue to move through the application process." stated Simon Goulet, co-founder of Blue Tractor.
