Monday, May 14, 2018 Week In Preview, May 14-20 Tomorrow the Capital Markets Strategies and ETFGI teams will bring their 2018 ETFs Global Markets Roundtable series to New York City. The event is being held at the Metropolitan Club in midtown Manhattan and has a host of sponsors, including: CBOE, Chapman and Cutler, Deloitte, DWS, Flow Traders, FTSE Russell, Global X, Invesco, Jane Street, Matheson, Nasdaq, State Street, Style Research, and the World Gold Council. Speakers scheduled to appear include: Doug Cifu, CEO of Virtu Financial; Dan Draper, managing director of global ETFs at Invesco; Deborah Fuhr, managing partner of ETFGI; and many others. On Wednesday the Envestnet team will kick off their 2018 Advisor Summit, this time at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. More than 2,000 attendees from more than 525 firms are expected to attend the three-day event, which is sponsored by Capital Group's American Funds, First Trust, Principal, and a plethora of other companies. Keynote speakers scheduled to appear include: Anil Arora, CEO of Envestnet's Yodlee unit; Jud Bergman, chairman and CEO of Envestnet; Bill Crager, president of Envestnet; Amy Cuddy, social psychologist and author; Sebastian Maniscalco, stand-up comedian; Molly Pandya, senior vice president of product management at Envestnet; and Blake Wood, SVP and director of product strategy at Envestnet. Conference activities will include: a Thursday morning "Riverfront 5K" along the Mississippi; and a final night party at House of Blues, featuring performances by Emmylou Harris and David Higgins Band. Also on Wednesday, the Irish Funds team will host a golf outing at Luttrelstown Golf Course in Dublin, Ireland. The outing is advance of the trade group's 2018 Annual Global Funds Conference, at the Convention Centre Dublin on Thursday. Then on Friday the trade group will follow the conference up with a distribution workshop for asset managers, distributors, and investors. Also on Wednesday, the Mutual Fund Education Alliance (MFEA) team is hosting a one-day Distribution Summit at OppenheimerFunds' headquarters in New York City. The event, sponsored by DST, will be preceded by a Tuesday evening networking cocktail reception at the nearby W New York Downtown. Speakers scheduled to appear include: Jim Adams, managing director of MFS Funds Distributor; Chris Brown, founder and principal of Sway Research; Jason Brown, principal at ZS Associates; Jill Brown, president of Principal Funds Distributor and chair of MFEA's distribution council; Bob Cunha, managing director of marketing and distribution strategy at Eaton Vance; Glenn Dial, head of U.S. retirement strategy at Allianz Global Investors; Brad Finkle, president of TIAA Investments; Matt Fronczke, director at DST; Kimber Lintz, director of MFEA; Peter Shea, partner at K&L Gates; Mark Smith, executive director and director of asset manager development at Morgan Stanley; Rich Smith, head of client business management at American Century; and James White, head of diversity and inclusion at OpFunds. Also on Wednesday in the Big Apple, Pageant's Fund Intelligence team is hosting a breakfast briefing, "Cultivating diversity in asset management," at the Lamb's Club. Panelists scheduled to appear include: Shaunice Hawkins, principal of Evolutions Consulting; Susan Lerner, partner at Jamesbeck Partners; Lori Schneider, partner at K&L Gates; and George Wilbanks, managing partner of Wilbanks Partners. Fund Action editor Dervedia Thomas will moderate the the discussion. On Thursday, also in Gotham, the Capital Link and NYSE teams will host their 17th annual Closed-End Funds & Global ETFs Forum. The one-day event will be held at the Metropolitan Club and is sponsored by Aberdeen Standard, Alps, Amplify, Calamos, Cohen & Steers, Dechert, DWS, First Trust, FitchRatings, Goldman Sachs, Guggenheim, InfraCap, the New Ireland Fund, Schroders, Stifel, and Tortoise. John Stoltzfus, managing director and chief investment strategist at Oppenheimer Asset Management, will deliver the luncheon keynote address.
