As an 18-Year Lord Abbett Vet Retires, Two Bernards Rise

As an 18-year Lord Abbett [profile] veteran retires, two Bernards appear to have filled her shoes.

Joan Binstock, partner and chief financial and operations officer at Lord Abbett, recently retired from the Jersey City, New Jersey-based mutual fund firm, MFWire has learned. Partner and chief accounting officer Bernie Doucette now serves as chief financial officer, and Bernard Grzelak now serves as chief operations officer.

Doucette and Grzelak did not respond to requests for comment. Jim Sansevero, partner and chief marketing officer at Lord Abbett, did not respond to a call for comment.

Binstock's retirement comes amid a broader leadership change at Lord Abbett. On March 31 Lord Abbett's chief, managing partner Daria Foster, retired and passed the reins to the new managing partner, Doug Sieg.

An alumna both of Binghamton University and of NYU's Stern School of Business, Binstock has worked at Lord Abbett since 1999. Prior to that she worked at Deutsche's Morgan Grenfell, EY, J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and PwC.

Doucette, an alumnus of Pace University's Lubin School of Business, joined Lord Abbett in 2013 and rose to partner in 2016. Prior to that he worked with Cohen & Steers, Lehman Brothers, RGP, Wofex, National Discount Brokers, NatWest Markets, Deutsche Bank Securities, and KPMG.

Grzelak, an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame, joined Lord Abbett 16 years ago as director of fund administration. He rose to partner in 2008 and leads fund administration while also serving as Lord Abbett's funds' treasurer. He previously worked at Lazard and Deloitte & Touche.
