Artisan Takes a Bigger Bite Out of the Big Apple

Eric Colson is doubling down on Artisan Partners' [profile] presence in New York City.

Yesterday Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based Artisan signed a 10-year lease for the entire fifth floor of 220 Fifth Avenue, Commercial Observer reports, and will start moving into the space in the spring of 2018. Yet the publication notes that Artisan is also expected to keep its existing NYC offices at 1330 Avenue of the Americas. Artisan's New York contingent includes its emerging markets team, its thematic team, and part of its global equity team.

There's no word yet on the pricing of the lease, but Artisan's new space measures 9,000 square feet in total. The new location is in Manhattan's "NoMad" (North of Madison Square Park) neighborhood at the intersection of West 26th Street and Fifth Avenue. Artisan's current NYC office is between West 54th Street and West 53rd Street on Avenue of the Americas (i.e. Sixth Avenue), about 27 blocks north of the new location.

Imperium Capital and Stellar Management will be Artisan's new landlords at 220 Fifth Avenue. (RXR Realty is their landlord at 1330 Avenue of the Americas.) Newmark Knight Frank's David Malawer, Brent Ozarowski, Andrew Peretz, and Brian Waterman reportedly represented Imperium and Stellar on the deal, while CBRE's Eric Deutsche represented Artisan.
