This week fundsters are gathering for big events in Southern California and Germany, while 401(k) folks and others in the benefits space will gather for a Big Apple event. Meanwhile, the deadline is nigh for submitting nominations for awards from a pair of industry trade groups.

Today the Informa team is kicking off their FundForum International in Berlin. More than 1,400 attendees are expected for the three-day event, which is being held at the InterContinental Berlin. Big sponsors of the conference include BlackRock, Caceis Investor Services, EY, and KPMG. And it's not just European fund firms on the agenda: Jim McCaughan, CEO of Principal Global Investors, and Matt Hougan, CEO of Inside ETFs, are among those scheduled to speak.

Tomorrow the Financial Research Associates (FRA) team will host an ERISA Litigation Update. The one-day event will be held at the Harmonie Club.

On Wednesday BNY Mellon's Pershing team will kick off Insite 2017 in San Diego. More than 2,000 advisors are expected to attend the broker-dealer- and RIA-powering custodian's three-day event at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. Bloomberg Media, Federated, First Trust, and BNY Mellon's Dreyfus are all big sponsors of the conference. Speakers scheduled to take the main stage include: Oscar Salazar Gaitan, founding chief technology officer at Uber; Rana el Kaliouby, CEO of Affectiva; Jack Lew, former U.S. Secretary of Treasury; Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit; Wesley Phoa, PM for Capital Group; Platon, a renowned portrait photographer; Brian Wesbury, chief economist at First Trust; and Serena Williams, a star tennis player.

Friday is the deadline for fundsters to submit nominations for NICSA's 2017 Nova Awards. The operations-focused trade group will recognize fundsters in six award categories, including the new "Nova Award for Emerging Leaders in the Asset Management Industry." Winners will be recognized at NICSA's GMM, scheduled for October 5-6 in Boston.

Friday is also the revised deadline for fundsters submit nominations for the MFEA's 2017 STAR Awards. The winners will be recognized at the trade group's awards ceremony, scheduled for October 25 in Chicago.
