Janus Building Up Wholesaler Team

Eric Gerth has left Goldman Sachs for the second time since 2000. This time the sales executive has taken a newly created post at Janus Capital in which he will focus on building that firm's institutional and intermediary business.

He first left Goldman Sachs three years ago to take a position as chief sales officer at Scudder Wiesel, a joint-venture targeting investors seeking to get in on the technology bubble. That firm was folded by its parents -- then-Scudder Kemper and Thomas Wiesel -- after the dotcom mania past.

He then rejoined Goldman Sachs Asset Management as its national sales director for its third-party broker-dealer channel.

At Janus, Gerth reports to Richard Garland, CEO of Janus International. He is expected to focus on building out that unit's wholesaling team in the United States. The firm now has nine wholesalers and may grow the team to as many as 20.
