Live Like a Mutual Fund Superstar, For $14MM

If you've ever wanted to live like Peter Lynch, now's your chance. All you need is a cool $14 million (or one heck of a mortgage).

Peter Lynch
Fidelity
Former Magellan Fund Portfolio Manager
The 72-year-old former superstar Fidelity PM built a vacation house in Scottsdale, Arizona, and now he has put it on the market with a $14-million price tag, the Wall Street Journal and the Arizona Republic both report. Lynch famously ran the Fidelity Magellan Fund for 13 years before retiring in 1990. (The WSJ piece describes the property, while the local paper offers 39 different pictures of it. The Phoenix Business Journal also weighed in.)

Lynch tells the WSJ that he "wouldn't break even" on the cost of the house if it sells for $14 million. The 11,200-square-foot, 11-year-old home sits on 4.5 acres. It features an outdoor heated pool (with a watefall), a pool house, and a caretaker's cottage.

Boston-based Lynch has grandchildren near Boston and in California. The WSJ also notes that Lynch's wife, Carolyn, died in 2015.

"There's no way I'm going there [Scottsdale] by myself," Lynch tells the paper.
