In Beantown, a $327B UK Asset Manager Makes a Key Hire

Standard Life Investments, the asset management arm of Edinburgh-based Standard Life plc, just made a key hire on this side of the pond. Standard Life Investments has about $327 billion in AUM and more than 1,100 employees worldwide.

Director of Subadvisory and Defined Contribution
Boston-based Jim Sia joined Standard Life Investments earlier this month as director of subadvisory and defined contribution, our sister publication 401kWire reports. Sia is a veteran of the institutional side of the defined contribution investment-only business.

In his newly-created role, Sia now reports to Eric Roberts, head of U.S. business development at Standard Life Investments, a company spokeswoman confirms. The spokeswoman puts Sia's hiring in the context of "the ongoing growth and expansion of Standard Life Investments in North America."

Sia himself did not immediately return a call for comment on his new role.

Sia most recently served as DC chief of GMO [profile] before leaving earlier this year. He previously worked at Wellington, Schwab, CS First Boston, and Fidelity, and is an alumnus of Babson and of Boston University.
