Envestnet, Natixis [profile], UBS, and eight other companies won awards recently from a wealth management industry trade group.

On April 21 at the annual MMI (Money Management Industry) convention in Washington, D.C., the trade group's board of governors recognized 10 firms and one individual with its 2016 Industry Leadership Awards, the eighth annual such awards. The awards recognize asset managers, advisory solution sponsors and distributors, and technology and service providers.

The winners were celebrated at MMI's "Gateway to Leadership" dinner, which serves as a fundraiser for the MMI's workplace diversity initiative of the same name which "places minority college students in internships with MMI member firms."

Joan Lensing, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at MMI, confirms that this time around the awards opened the "most innovative new investment product" award to more types of firms. And MMI also added a separate category for outsourced investment advisory services.

"The awards continue to evolve each year as the business evolves and matures," Lensing tells MFWire.
