Delaware's Wright Hires In Florida

Brett Wright just hired an external wholesaler in the Sunshine State.

Wright, head of third-party distribution for Delaware Investments [profile], confirms that Steven Barrocas recently joined the Philadelphia-based mutual fund shop as a regional director in the wirehouse channel, covering South Florida and Puerto Rico. He reports to Craig Capretta, central division manager for retail distribution at Delaware.

Barrocas just spent nearly nine years at MFS, most recently as a director covering the same territory that he'll now cover for Delaware.

"We have not yet filled the position but expect to do so soon," Dan Flaherty, a spokesman for MFS, tells MFWire.

Wright tells MFWire that Barrocas is "a great fit" for the Delaware team.

"He's an experienced wholesaler," Wright says. "He's been down there a long time ... He's got relationships."

Wright confirms that Barrocas fills an existing but vacant position at Delaware. Yet Wright declined to comment on who previously held the role.

Wright now has a 40-person external wholesaler team. That includes 16 wirehouse-focused wholesalers, including Barrocas, plus 11 wholesalers in the independent channel and 13 that cross the channels. Those 40 externals are supported by a team of 25 internal wholesalers.
