One PM On a $4.6B Fund Takes a Sabbatical

One of the PMs on a $4.6-billion foreign large blend mutual fund is taking an 11-month sabbatical.

Ian Warmerdam
Henderson Global Investors
Director of Global Growth Equities
Henderson Global Investors [profile] reveals in a filing with the SEC that, effective February 1, global growth equities director Ian Warmerdam is on sabbatical until the end of the year. Warmerdam is one of nine PMs on the five-star, bronze-rated Henderson International Opportunities Fund, which he is expected to return to on January 1, 2017.

A Henderson spokesperson was not immediately able to comment on Warmerdam's Sabbatical.

Per the filing, Warmerdam and Ronan Kelleher, one of the eight other PMs on the fund, "co-manage the Global Growth sub-portfolio of the fund." Kelleher will be the sole PM of that sub-portfolio in Warmerdam's absence.

Warmerdam joined Henderson in 2001 and has been a PM on the fund since inception, also in 2001. An alumnus of the University of Strathclyde and of the University Stirling, he worked at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (now part of Aberdeen) and Scottish Life before joining Henderson. Henderson International Opportunities appears to be the only fund he PMs.

Kelleher is an alumnus of the University of Edinburgh and of the University of College Cork. He joined Henderson in 2011, starting out as a fund manager assistant.

The seven other PMs on the fund are: Nicholas Cowley, Glen Finegan, Andrew Gillan, Bill McQuaker, Vincent Musumeci, Stephen Peak, and Tim Stevenson.
