Northern Trust Swaps In a Pair of Mutual Fund Subadvisors

Northern Trust is making subadvisor changes on a pair of its multi-manager mutual funds.

Frederick Waddell
Northern Trust
Chairman, Chief Executive Officer
The Chicago-based asset manager confirms via a recent filing with the SEC that on September 28 it will add WCM Investment Management as a subadvisor for a slice of the $1.7-billion, two-star Northern Multi-Manager International Equity Fund and Vaughan Nelson Investment Management as a subadvisor for a slice of the $661.9-million, three-star Northern Multi-Manager Mid Cap Fund. WCM replaces Northern Cross, and Vaughan Nelson replaces Systematic Financial Management.

A spokesman for Northern Trust was not immediately able to comment for this story. An executive with Vaughan Nelson declined to comment, and an executive with Northern Cross referred inquiries to Northern Trust.

MFWire could not immediately reach executives from Systematic or WCM for comment.

Each of the two funds has several other subadvisors. For the international equity fund, the other subadvisors are: Altrinsic Global Advisors, NFJ investment Group, Earnest Partners, and William Blair. For the mid cap fund, Geneva Capital Management and LSV Asset Management are the other subadvisors.
