Kelmoore Goes Live with CheckFree APL

Kelmoore Investment Company recently went live on CheckFree APL to better position itself among the large separately-managed account sponsor programs. Kelmoore is relying on CheckFree APL's performance reporting functionality to automate its manual procedures.

CheckFree Investment Services offers outsourced trading, portfolio management, accounting and reporting services to broker-dealers and money managers in SMAs. "Separately managed account managers require excellent performance reporting capabilities in order to demonstrate their success to the sponsor firms they wish to join," said Alex Marasco, CheckFree Investment Services executive vice president and general manager.

Kelmoore is currently participating in regional sponsor programs, and would like to expand its base to include wirehouses.

"With automated performance reporting, we hope to save time, costs and resources," said Kelmoore Investment Company Senior Executive Vice President, Tamara (Tammy) Beth Heiman. "We have a quality performance monitor for sponsor program due diligence that also meets AIMR compliance."

Some 39 of the top 50 Wall Street (sponsor) firms and 36 of the top 40 managers to utilize Checkfree APL to interface with each other, while operating in a straight-through processing environment. Institutional money managers also use CheckFree to enter and maintain account data, manage trades and measure portfolio performance.

Kelmoore is known for its hedging strategy, which employs covered calls in conjunction with its large cap equity funds to enhance returns. The Kelmoore fund family includes its core offering, Kelmoore Strategy Fund, the aggressive Kelmoore Strategy Eagle Fund and the conservative Kelmoore Strategy Liberty Fund.
