Software Vendor Lands Natl Sales Exec

Financial Information Group, a database product specialist that targets mutual fund firms and broker-dealers, has hired a new national sales executive as part of an ongoing effort to grow its client base and roll out new products.

Craig Katz, who effectively started in March, is responsible for sales of the Red Bank, New Jersey-based firm's Discovery-brand databases, analytical tools and other sources of information for the intermediary market. Katz reports to Nicholas W. Stuller, managing director.

The firm currently offers Discovery-RIA and Discovery-FA, database products that hold extensive information on registered investment advisors and financial advisors, respectively. The products aim to help financial services firms better target sales prospects and boost profit margins.

Stuller told the MFWire.com that the firm intends to launch two new products, Discovery-Insurance and Discovery-BD (broker-dealer), in the third quarter. The first product will feature comprehensive data on insurance agents, while the latter will focus on broker-dealers.

The managing director also noted that plans have been made to add another sales executive in the Fall. The pending new hire is also to report to Stuller.

"I'm very excited to join a growing team that offers such a unique and needed product. This is a terrific opportunity to help develop a business that offers a strong value proposition to its client base," said Katz. Most recently, he oversaw advertising sales for the Journal of Financial Planning, the Financial Planning Association's flagship publication.

"Craig has created exceptional relationships with both mutual fund companies and broker-dealers, and we are thrilled to have his insights and experience applied to the vision of Discovery," said Paul C. Chachko, the CEO who founded the firm in January of 2002.
