STC Names New VP of Private Client Services

Security Trust Company (STC) named Michael A. O'Brien vice president of private client services at the start of this year to replace Theresa Coin, who left the firm last fall to pursue other career opportunities.

O'Brien manages STC's private client services business unit, which provides personal trust services for high net-worth individuals through their advisors, brokers, and financial consultants. Some seven trust administrators and three assistants report in to O'Brien, who in turn reports to Bill Kenyon, STC's president, according to Nancy Murphy, vice president.

The business unit's administrators work with advisors of high net-worth individuals to provide services for estates, conservatorships, court-ordered appointments, and a wide variety of trusts. Amy Howe also works for the oldest business unit of STC as its business development officer.

Previously, O'Brien worked in Honolulu as senior vice president and manager of the central administration group for Hawaiian Trust Company Ltd., a division of Bank of Hawaii. He also held the position of executive/senior vice president and manager of the individual services group for Hawaiian Trust in Honolulu.

In Phoenix, O'Brien was vice president and manager of trust marketing and planning for Valley National Bank.
