A Big Law Firm Ropes a New Partner, a Mutual Fund Lawyer

A giant law firm just promoted a mutual fund specialist to partner.

On November 3 Ropes & Gray named 20 new partners around the globe, including two new partners in asset management. One of those new partners, Adam Schlichtmann, specializes in working with mutual fund shops and others in the investment management industry.

An alum of Boston College Law School who also studied biochemistry at MIT and Trinity College, Schlichtman is based in Boston.

The other new asset management partner is Debra Lussier, who specializes in private equity fund-related work and is also based in Boston.

Ropes & Gray has 1,100 lawyers in 11 offices around the world. Partners Bryan Chegwidden and John Loder lead Ropes & Gray's investment management practice, which includes 54 attorneys (20 of whom are partners). The investment management practice, in turn, is part of the broader asset management division, which includes 131 attorneys (including 42 partners).
