Monday, September 8, 2014 Two Partners Depart Lord Abbett Two of Lord Abbett's partners left last week. MFWire has learned that Mike Weldon and Cinda Hughes are moving on from the Jersey City, New Jersey-based mutual fund shop. Weldon had served as director of retail marketing, while Hughes had served as a client portfolio manager. MFWire could not immediately reach a spokesperson for Lord Abbett for comment on how Hughes' and Weldon's duties are being handled. A 17-year Lord Abbett veteran and five-year partner, Weldon started at the firm as a regional manager in western Florida. He has been director of retail marketing since 2006. He previously worked with Phoenix Home Life and has degrees from the University of North Florida and the University of Georgia. Hughes joined Lord Abbett in 1998 after working at Phoenix Investment Partners, PaineWebber, Kidder Peabody, Mint Investment Management Company and Fidelity. She started at Lord Abbett on the small cap growth team, and has been a partner for 12 years. She holds a degree from Rhodes College.
