Bedbugs, Lost Crowns, Heir Issues and Equities: Pimco's Week Had All of These

It has been a busy seven days for Pimco.

Vanguard took Pimco's crown in the bond fund arena, reported InvestmentNews. Vanguard now manages roughly $430 billion in such funds, compared to Pimco's $425 billion.

Equities chief Virginie Maisonneuve bolstered her team with a number of new hires, according to the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, Reuters, and Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, former CEO and Co-CIO Mohamed El-Erian wrote a touching piece on Linkedin regarding his relationship with his daughter and what it taught him about the importance of work and life balance, and how it helped him decide to move on from Pimco.

The Financial Times wrote about the efforts of Pimco founder and CIO Bill Gross to charm Morningstar.

Pimco closed a number of ETFs, as reported by ETF.com.

The firm also hired Mohsen Fahmi, formerly of Moore Capital, as reported by Bloomberg.

Reuters looked at the recent successes of Pimco emigre Marc Seidner, while Financial News pondered the need for a succession plan at Pimco.

Meanwhile, the urban hipster scourge of bedbugs felled Pimco's New York office. A number of financial publications had a fun time reporting the infestation, including the Wall Street Journal; Fox Business; CNBC, and Reuters.

This was the week that was.
