Tuesday, June 17, 2014 Northern Trust Enlists a State Street Rainmaker Northern Trust has a new vice president and business development executive for exchange-traded funds. Paul Berard stepped into the role in May. He previously had served eight years at State Street, in two positions. His most recent job at State Street was as vice president of business development within the U.S. sub-advisory group. Berard managed distribution relationships with third-parties including asset managers, brokers, insurers, RKers, private banks and large RIAs. He was in this role for more than 2 1/2 years. Before this role, Berard was a senior national accounts manager in SSgA's intermediary business group, where he built and coordinated strategic relationships in the wirehouse, independent and bank B-D channels to distribute SSgA's SPDR ETFs, mutual funds and alt strategies. Berard's other previous jobs have included vice president, equity sales at Morgan Stanley; director of national sales, for the Independent Research Group/TheStreet.com, and sales and national accounts manager for OppenheimerFunds. Early in his career, Berard was an Ameriprise financial advisor, and a manager for clearing and trust operations at Midwest Clearing.
