Tuesday, April 15, 2014 Pardi Furthers BNY's Distribution Evolution After a number of high-level executive changes in BNY Mellon's distribution team, the New York-based asset giant has filled a newly-created position. The multi-boutique, which includes amongst its ranks Dreyfus, has hired Kimberly Mustin as head of North American distribution. The position is a new one, according to a BNY spokesperson, who said that Mustin will be available for interview in the future. The hiring follows a number of number of departures and hirings within the sales and distribution function at the firm. For example, Joseph Fuschillo left his position as executive vice president for retail distribution in October 2013. At the time of Fuschillo's departure, a BNY spokesperson stated to MFWire that Andrew Provencher, who had joined BNY in June as head of U.S. retail sales, was "in the process of evaluating and further enhancing our sales and distribution efforts moving forward." Other notable departures include Dwight Jacobsen, who left his position as head of Dreyfus' intermediary distribution in November 2013 to serve as national sales manager for Lazard. Moreover, Daniel Cronin left his job as senior vice president for business development in the RIA channel in February 2014 to join alts research firm iCapital Network as a managing director. Meanwhile, BNY hired in September 2013 Eaton Vance alum Paul Nobile to serve as chief makering officer for investment management. The firm also recently promoted Walter "Tripp" Braillard to the position of head of RIA distribution. The newly-hired Mustin will report to BNY's global head of distribution PeterPaul Pardi and is based in New York. According to a BNY statement, Mustin will be "responsible for leading new business strategy and driving sales, client management and consultant relations efforts across institutional, retirement and retail markets throughout North America." Further, according to the statement, she "will oversee centralized distribution and consultant relations across Dreyfus, BNY Mellon Retirement, and Institutional markets. Working closely with BNY Mellon's investment boutiques, as well as Investment Management's product and marketing leadership, she will lead the strategic plan for the North American distribution business." Mustin had previously served as head of global strategic accounts at OpFunds. She left the firm in February after a major reorganization of its distribution operations.
