kasina's Chief Enters the Art World While an Alum Snowboards

Them folk at kasina know how to let loose.

First off, kasina CEO Steven Miyao has recently opened a gallery in Bushwick, Brooklyn called Air Circulation.

Apparently, Air Circulation is marketed as being "not a traditional gallery." For example, according to the gallery's literature "we think of it as a zone of artistic research and play. We are interested in content, narrative and experience. Our exhibition programming will be organized around thematic blocks, each opening will also feature an audience participation event/performance."

Indeed. The first exhibit, titled Peristalsis, features works from 11 artists and "is a playful, cross-media examination of various cultural themes associated with food and nutrition."

One such exhibit, by artist Jude Tallichet, features what looks like a pile of bronze muffins.

The gallery itself opened to a Conceptual Cupcake Party.

What is a conceptual cake?

We have no idea! And this is why you need to help us out defining the meaning of this future medium!

Meanwhile, kasina alum Mike Ma, who was a principal at the firm as well as its chief business officer, and also served a stint as head of retail advertising and prospect marketing Vanguard. has launched his own consulting firm, Horsepowered Partners. which consults on issues related to financial services sales, marketing and product development.

At the same time, Ma has also launched ShredBetter.com, a website designed to help consumers find, rate and hire snowsports instructors.

How does he know so much about snowpsorts? For the past eight years, he has worked as a snowboard instructor and staff trainer. "I worked my tail off to become an AASI Level III Certified Instructor," says his Linkedin page.
