Tuesday, November 19, 2013 After $13B Settlement, Dimon Still Has Headaches By now, everyone should know that JP Morgan reached a $13 billion settlement with the Department of Justice over charges and suits related to its mortgage-backed securities trading. The news was covered by such notable news outliers as the LA Times, TIME magazine and so on. Although the settlement has taken at least the state of New York off its legal tail, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, other news outlets like The Street and Barron's say that Jamie Dimon's woes aren't over. What else could he face? Crain's New York Business senior reporter Aaron Elstein outlines at least six other lingering headaches including: Bernie Madoff litigation; "London Whale" criminal investigation; Currency Trading investigations; Libor investigations; energy trading investigations and probes into hiring practices in China. At the very least, the ongoing criminal investigations should be of interest to fundsters. A conviction could get JP Morgan deported out of '40 Act Country.
