Thursday, September 12, 2013 Reuters Profiles a Touchstone Mid-Cap Fund Reuters' David Randall profiled portfolio manager Stephen Goddard, PM of one of the best U.S. mid-cap funds, Touchstone [profile] Mid-Cap Fund. The fund is in the top five percent of 334 funds in the mid-cap blend Morningstar category, Randall writes. Randall reports that part of the fund's success is in finding companies with high margins, large amounts of free cash and low-priced valuations, with top holdings in M&T Bank, Atwood Oceanis and Cintas. The fund's success came doing a two-year stock rally, however, Randall writes, but Goddard says market volatility will have little effect on his strategy. Randall quotes Goddard as saying, "It's easier to minimize downside loss than it is to find the next big winner…It's like playing a good defense." To read more, click here.
